Party Wall Agreements

When considering any structural work which affects a shared wall, the Party Wall Act (1996) comes into play.

This guide briefly sets out the issues that should be considered under the 1996 Act, including putting the neighbouring parties on notice of the intended works and the requirement for a Party Wall Agreement.

Failure to comply with these requirements can result in legal action being pursued by the affected party, who may seek loss arising from property damage and/or a reduction in the value of their property.

So, before carrying out works to a party wall, it is highly recommended that you seek legal assistance.
